The Rutherford Preset & Closed Loop is SMS READY. This means that it is verified to enable consistent printing according to ISO 12647, which is exactly what is required to print the 8.690 colours of the Spot Matching System (see www.spotmatchingsystem.com) in standard CMYK on offset presses. When it comes to 4 colour jobs, print shops that order a Rutherford Preset & Closed Loop solution from Spot-Nordic are entitled to 4 years of free SMS READY badges for their respective process for the respective press, worth EUR 800 pr. year - be it to confirm precision printing of SMS colours to Fogra or G7 standards - or even both, along with a remote crash course in what is required to print the entire range of 5.214 SMS colours correctly everytime without a worry in the world - see further information for Printers on the Spot Matching System here. The condition for getting the SMS READY certification for a print shop is that the print shop must be able to consistently print all SMS colours within a MAX dE00 of 3 or less. This of course also means that SMS colours are simply a part of CMYK layouts and all photographs and graphics within the layout are also colour correct to ISO 12647 standards. This is very important in our times when margins are getting smaller and competition harsh and there is simply not time for printers to play the piano to try to adjust colours on press. The show must go on and the press must be kept running. Printing to ISO standards means that during make-ready the Printer simply adjusts the density to what it is supposed to be according to the ISO standard, makes sure the form is in register and then presses the green run button. The customer, who has approved the job to be printed according to that ISO standard will have a very difficult time complaining about a thing, so reprints due to colour issues will be a thing of the past in most cases.
